Baby Bedding Types & TOG Values

by Angelos Elia 13 Nov 2022

Babies do a lot of sleeping, but they also need to be kept safe, warm and comfortable. Baby bedding can be one of the biggest costs in raising a child, so it's important to make sure you're getting the best materials for your baby's comfort. There are many different types of bedding, but when it comes to baby bedding there are two main options: organic and non-organic. Organic baby bedding is made from natural materials such as cotton, wool or hemp. It's better for the environment because it doesn't use pesticides or chemicals to grow the materials used in making these products.

Synthetic vs Organic Materials

Whether you're looking for something soft and cozy or something that's easy to clean, there are plenty of different options out there. We've put together a few tips for finding the best materials for baby bedding so that you can find what's right for your baby! - Choose natural fabrics that breathe.

- Synthetic materials can be irritating to a baby's skin.

- Natural fibers are often more expensive, but they last longer and can be machine washed. - Stay away from flame-retardant chemicals. These can be harmful to your baby's health. - If you're looking for something soft, consider cotton or linen fabrics. - If you're looking for durability, synthetics are a good choice.

The Importance of TOG Value

There are some things that are pretty obvious when it comes to buying baby bedding: size matters! But what about other things? How does one decide between cotton and polyester? What about wool versus synthetic fibers? These questions may seem like common sense, but they can actually be quite difficult to answer without first understanding how much weight each type of fabric will hold. The TOG value of your bedding is an important thing to consider when choosing what materials are right for you and your baby. The TOG rating stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is a measurement of how much heat can be trapped in the fabric before it begins to transfer out again. The higher the number, the better the insulating power of your material! For example, a blanket with a TOG rating of 3 will keep you warm while camping in the coldest months. If you live in an area where winters are milder, however, this same blanket may not provide enough warmth for you and your baby during the colder seasons when you want to use it as a swaddling blanket! Another important factor to consider is how much weight each type of fabric can hold before it begins to sag or tear. For example, cotton fabrics tend to be very heavy but also very soft and comfortable for both babies and parents alike.

The higher the TOG value, the warmer the sleeping bag or bedding is. Depending on the room temperature, different sleeping bags and different types of clothing are recommended for a comfortable and safe sleeping temperature. High-quality sleeping bags and bedding are made with materials that are designed to retain heat and resist moisture. This will help your little one stay warm, dry, and comfortable while camping outside in any weather conditions!

Follow the next table for a general guideline on what type of clothing to use for a baby's comfortable sleep. These are only a guideline so you should always be checking on your little ones temperature and wether it is too hot or too cold.
